New York Uncovered- Personalized Pillow

March 27, 2009
That Should Be On a Pillow

Mother’s Day is coming up again! It’s a tough one, but this year, I have a great solution. Even though I may ruin the surprise for you, in the interest of helping other daughters, I’m going to fill you in on a really fun discovery.
Over the years, we’ve found some really cute embroidered pillows with sayings like: “Call your mother, she worries,” “Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all.” There are tons of sayings about diet, getting older, and mothers. But what about all the unique sayings in your own family that you never see? Now, you can have your family’s own favorite expressions, slogan, jokes or sayings put onto your own unique pillow.
The company is called “That Should Be on a Pillow!,” it was founded recently by an entrepreneur who had her “aha” moment reading Real Simple magazine. She started out small, but is growing really quickly. Customers have been ordering some very unique expressions.
Recently, a client selected a phrase for her mother- in- law’s pillow: “That’s not so ay-yi-yi, if you know what I mean.” It turns out that HER mother said the phrase and it has become a kind of family motto.  Some other good ones: “I gave him the thinnest years of my life,”  “You can always fall back on your typing,” ” “Is that what you’re wearing?” “Do you like your hair that way?”
    April 24th is order deadline for Mother’s Day. Prices range from $75 for a 7” x 10” to $125 for 12” x 16”
